What is permanent jewellery?

Permanent jewellery is a type of jewellery that is designed to be worn continuously without the need for a clasp or fastener. It’s typically made from materials like gold, silver, or other metals and is welded directly onto the wearer’s body creating a seamless bracelet, anklet, or necklace. The welding process is painless and does not require any permanent alterations to the skin.

The idea behind permanent jewellery is that it's a low-maintenance option, as it stays on without needing to be taken off. You can go about your daily life without worrying about it falling off or needing adjustments. Some people choose it for its sentimental value, treating it like a meaningful piece of jewellery that remains with them all the time.

Frequently asked questions

Is permanent jewellery safe?

Yes, permanent jewellery is generally considered safe when done by a professional trained jeweller. The process of welding the jewellery to your body is quick and the equipment used is designed to be safe for your skin.

The welding tool is sanitised, and the process is being done in a clean, controlled environment to avoid infections or complications. All jewellery is made of high-quality, hypoallergenic materials, especially if you have sensitive skin or allergies. Our permanent jewellery is made from metals like gold, sterling silver, or stainless steel, which is generally safe for most people. If you have sensitive skin or any underlying skin conditions, it’s a good idea to consult with a dermatologist before getting permanent jewellery.

You’ll want to make sure that the metal and welding process won't cause irritation.

Can I remove it for surgery/MRI?

If you need to remove permanent jewellery, it’s usually a simple process.

You can contact us and we can remove it quickly and safely for you.

Alternatively, you can cut the jewellery at the small jump ring.

When you are ready, you can bring your jewellery back and we can re-weld it back on for you at no additional cost.

Please note that after the first free re-weld, a fee of $25 will apply after

Will it be ok through airport security?

Your permanent jewellery should be fine going through airport security.

Most metal jewellery including bracelets and necklaces don’t typically cause issues unless they have unusually large or intricate components.

Just to be safe, you might want to check with the airline or airport beforehand if you're concerned about specific pieces, especially if they include larger clasps or unique materials.

Who should not get permanent jewellery?

Individuals with pacemakers should avoid getting permanent jewellery due to the welding process. While allergies to solid gold, sterling silver and stainless steel are rare, those with known allergies should also refrain from getting permanent jewellery.

Minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

How long will it stay on?

Your permanent jewellery will remain in place for as long as you desire.

If you ever wish to remove it, simply cut the chain with end cutters, nail clippers or sharp scissors at the join and keep it for future re-welding.

While permanent jewellery is built to last for a long time (with some pieces lasting decades or more), the reality is that it’s not indestructible and can be subject to wear and tear. It can certainly last for many years with proper care, but its lifespan ultimately depends on the material, how well it’s maintained, and the types of activities you engage in while wearing it.

What if my permanent jewellery breaks?

We ensure the integrity of our weld when you leave your appointment.

As with any chain, please be mindful of the weakest link by avoiding any undue weight or pressure on the chain.

If the chain breaks on the weld (jump ring) we will fix it for free, provided you still have your chain.

Your chain is delicate, so needs to be treated with care. We guarantee the weld join but not the chain or jewellery itself against tarnishing or other wear and tear.

How do I care for my permanent jewellery?

Try to keep your jewellery dry. While most permanent jewellery is made with durable metals, water, soap, and lotions can tarnish or weaken the material over time.

Try to keep your jewellery away from strong chemicals, like cleaning products, perfumes, and hair sprays. These can cause discoloration or damage to the metal.

You can clean your jewellery with the polishing cloth provided or you can use warm soapy water and an old toothbrush to remove buildup like sunscreen and moisturiser between links - be sure to dry it thoroughly after. Best to avoid chlorine, hot pools and other chemicals that van oxidise sterling silver.

What is the process?

Create : Create your custom piece of jewellery by choosing between a range of chains and material which includes 925 sterling silver, 14kt gold-filled and stainless steel. There is also an option to add a charm or connector at an additional cost.

Measure and fit: The chain will be measured in the desired location. it is important to get the fit just right as there is no clasp to adjust later. Sizing is usually a bit snug, but comfortable. A jump ring is fitted to connect the two ends of the chain.

Connect: The two ends of the chain are connected with a jump ring. The jump ring ends will be welded together to create a seamless and permanent bond. This process can take a few minutes.

The jewellery is not welded to your skin and this is an entirely pain-free process.

Say goodbye to clasps and hello to forever.
